DAY 1:- Cusco – Paucartambo – Cloud forest – San Pedro.

Departure from Cusco very early in the morning in one of our trucks especially prepared for this road. We will pass through interesting Inter-Andean valleys and picturesque farmer communities. In the middle of the day we are going to visit the pre-Inca burial towers of Ninamarca, known as “Chullpas”. After this we will arrive to Paucartambo city, which is a typical colonial town. It had a lot of importance and it still conserves its ancient culture.
Continuing our trip we drive until the Abra of Acjanacu which is found at 3850 meters over the sea. From this point we start to go down by bike passing through the cloud forest, which is an area rich in endemic species as the spectacular “Andean Bear” and “The Cook of the Rock” (The Peruvian National Bird), “Orquis”, “Bromelias” and “Ferns” etc. Then in San Pedro we will visit a lek of the “Andean Cook of the Rocks”, in which these birds every morning and afternoon mate during a very interesting dance called “Displays”. After this impressive experience we will go to the lodge in San Pedro where our delicious dinner will be waiting.
Option: This night it is possible to have a night walk, where we have an opportunity to see many kinds of frog species and nocturnal insects.

DAY 2:- San Pedro – Pilcopata – Santa Rosa Native community.

Before having our breakfast we will go back to visit the lek of the “Cook of the Rock” where we are going to have a new opportunity to see them making “Displays”.
With more knowledge about these birds we can now return to the lodge, were we will have a delicious breakfast. A few hours later we will continue going down by bike until the town of Pilcopata where we have our lunch.

Option: This day, it is possible to arrive to Santa Rosa de Huacaria, a native community.

DAY 3:- Santa Rosa Native Community – Pilcopata.

In Huacaria after enjoying breakfast we will walk more or less for two hours until arriving at the union of Piñi Piñi and Amelia rivers. Here we can take a fresh bath and have the opportunity to fish for “Sabalos”. Later in the afternoon we will return to the native community and from there continue to Pilcopata.
Option: If you are interested in an Ayahuasca session, you can stay the rest of the day and the night with the shaman in the native community.
