Tour Overview

This Photography Tour starts in the Andes at 3500m and reach the lowest part of Manu National Park, we will photograph along the Claud forest, High Jungle and the Base amazon.
Tour Highlights: Macaw Clay Lick, Tapir Clay Lick, Two Oxbow lakes, 2 Hummingbird Gardens, 1 Tanager Garden, Andean Cock-of-the-Rock Lek.
Target Species: Grey-breasted mountain toucan, Crested Quetzal, Golden-headed quetzal, Versicolored barbet, Andean cock-of-the-rock, Andean motmot, King Vulture, Harpy Eagle, Emperor Tamarin, Macaw Clay Lick, Giant otter, ect.

Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Cusco - Bamboo Lodge:

Activities of the day and Photo Opportunities: Along the cloud forest we will visit a Tanager Garden, where several species of tanagers and hummingbirds are photograph
Target of the day: Andean cock-of-the-rock, Golden-headed quetzal, Andean motmot, Grey-breasted mountain toucan, Gray Woolly monkey, Versicolored barbet and Andean Potoo

Day2: Bamboo Lodge – Hummingbird Garden - Bamboo Lodge:

Activities of the day and Photo Opportunities:  Hummingbird Garden photography where up to 21 species can be observed.
Target of the day: Common Potoo, King Vulture, Scarlet-hooded barbet, hummingbirds and Tanagers.

Day3: Bamboo Lodge - Tapir Clay Lick or Tapir Lodge:

Activities of the day and Photo Opportunities: Long day Journey by boat along Madre de Dios River
Target of the day: Harpy Eagle.

Day4: Tapir Clay Lick – Macaw Clay Lick – Tapir Lodge:

Activities of the day and Photo Opportunities: Today we will visit the largest Macaw Clay Lick in Manu Park.

Target of the day: Red and Green macaws, Chestnut-fronted Macaws, Blue Headed Parrots, Amazon parrots and Three-toed sloth

Day 5: Tapir Clay Lick – Macaw Clay Lick:

Activities of the day and Photo Opportunities: Second Chance to visit the largest Macaw Clay Lick in Manu Park.

Day6: Tapir Lodge – Manu Biosphere Reserve:

Activities of the day and Photo Opportunities: Long day by boat at the beginning along Madre de Dios River and then Manu River but with a lot of photography opportunities.

Day 7: Manu Biosphere Reserve:

Activities of the day and Photo Opportunities: Today we will visit Salvador oxbow lake, there would be several photography opportunities from the Catamaran and when walking.
Target of the Day: Giant Otters, Emperor tamarin

Day 8: Manu Biosphere Reserve – Papaya Lodge:

Activities of the day and Photo Opportunities: This day we will start our trip back to towards Papaya Eco lodge that is found along Alto Madre de Dios River

Day 9: Papaya Lodge – Bamboo Lodge:

Activities of the day and Photo Opportunities: We will continue by boat towards Bamboo Lodge, in the way we will stop in a hot spring in order to take a bath and relax. We will arrive to the lodge around 5pm.

Day 10: Bamboo Lodge – Cusco:

Activities of the day and Photo Opportunities: Last Chance to do some bird photography before return to Cusco. We will reach Cusco around 6pm.
