This specialized area attracts up to 21 species of hummingbirds, providing unparalleled chances for close-up shots and behavioral photography. The rest of the day offers further cloud forest bird photography around Bamboo Lodge, enhancing your portfolio of rare and beautiful species.

Day 3: Bamboo Lodge to Tapir Clay Lick - Deep Amazon Journey (Into the Amazon: Madre de Dios River Photography Expedition)

Activities & Photo Opportunities: Today marks a thrilling transition as we embark on a full-day boat journey down the majestic Madre de Dios River. This scenic route takes us deeper into the Manu Amazon rainforest, offering continuous wildlife photography opportunities along the riverbanks. Keep your camera ready for kingfishers, herons, and potential raptors. We travel towards our unique Tapir Clay Lick (or Tapir Lodge), an ideal spot for nocturnal mammal observation and photography.

Target Species: Potential for sighting the elusive Harpy Eagle along the river, various Amazonian birds.

Day 4: Tapir Clay Lick & Macaw Clay Lick - Vibrant Amazon Parrot Photography (Spectacular Macaw Clay Lick: Manu's Parrot Paradise Photography)

Activities & Photo Opportunities: An early start takes us to the renowned Macaw Clay Lick, arguably the largest in Manu National Park. Witness a breathtaking spectacle as hundreds of macaws and parrots descend to ingest vital minerals – an incredible Amazon parrot photography event! Spend the morning capturing the vibrant colors and dynamic interactions of these magnificent birds. Later, we focus on the Tapir Clay Lick for opportunities to photograph nocturnal mammals, particularly the Lowland Tapir, under expert guidance.

Our journey continues by boat, first on the Madre de Dios River and then onto the more secluded Manu River. This day is packed with incredible wildlife photography opportunities as we navigate through untouched habitats, scanning for jaguars, caimans, capybaras, and diverse primate species along the riverbanks.

Day 7: Manu Reserved Zone - Giant Otters & Oxbow Lake Photography (Giant Otter & Amazon Wildlife Photography at Salvador Oxbow Lake)

Activities & Photo Opportunities: A highlight of our Manu National Park photography tour! We visit the iconic Salvador Oxbow Lake, a hotspot for incredible wildlife. From our silent catamaran, you'll have unparalleled photography opportunities for the magnificent Giant Otters, often seen fishing and playing. We'll also explore walking trails, searching for monkeys, unique bird species, and diverse flora, perfect for Amazon nature photography.

Day 8: Manu Reserved Zone to Papaya Eco Lodge - Amazon Journey Back (Return Journey through the Amazon: Riverine Wildlife Photography)

Activities & Photo Opportunities: We begin our journey back, cruising along the Alto Madre de Dios River towards Papaya Eco Lodge. This day offers continued riverine wildlife photography opportunities, allowing you to capture any species missed on the way in. The changing light and perspectives provide fresh photographic possibilities.

Day 9: Papaya Eco Lodge to Bamboo Lodge - Hot Springs & Cloud Forest Revisited (Relax & Photograph: Amazon Hot Springs & Cloud Forest Transition)

Activities & Photo Opportunities: Our boat journey continues upriver back towards Bamboo Lodge. En route, we'll make a refreshing stop at a natural hot spring, a perfect opportunity to relax and review your incredible Manu wildlife photos. The transition back into the cloud forest zone may offer new bird photography opportunities. We arrive at Bamboo Lodge around 5 pm.

Day 10: Bamboo Lodge to Cusco - Farewell Bird Photography (Last Chance Bird Photography & Return to Cusco)

Activities & Photo Opportunities: Enjoy a final morning of cloud forest bird photography around Bamboo Lodge, perhaps revisiting favorite spots for any elusive shots. This last session provides an excellent opportunity to capture any remaining target species or simply soak in the vibrant avian life. Afterwards, we begin our scenic return journey to Cusco, arriving around 6 pm, filled with incredible memories and stunning Manu National Park wildlife photographs.
