Today, we delve deeper into the magical cloud forest of Manu Park. Our journey to San Pedro Lodge is filled with exciting stops, including a vibrant Tanager Garden where these colorful birds gather, offering fantastic viewing. A highlight of the day is a visit to the Lek of the Peruvian National Bird, the Andean Cock-of-the-Rock, a truly unforgettable spectacle as males display their brilliant plumage. Keep an eye out for other forest inhabitants like the Andean Motmot and playful Gray Woolly Monkeys.

We'll make a second visit to the famous Peruvian National Bird Lek for more incredible photographic moments of the Andean Cock-of-the-Rock. Spend time exploring the lodge's lush gardens, home to a variety of endemic and migratory species. This is an excellent day for capturing stunning close-ups of Golden-headed Quetzals, Crested Quetzals, and the elusive Andean Potoo.

Day 4: San Pedro Lodge to Pona Lodge – Descending into the Foothills

Today, we descend to a lower elevation of approximately 700m, transitioning from cloud forest to a richer, warmer environment as we make our way to Pona Lodge. This change in altitude brings a new array of fascinating bird species. Anticipate sightings of the unique Amazonian Umbrellabird, vibrant Blue-headed Macaws, and several species of woodpeckers, including the impressive Crimson-crested Woodpecker.

Day 5: Pona Lodge – First Hummingbird Garden Immersion

Experience the magic of our first dedicated Hummingbird Garden near Pona Lodge. Prepare for a mesmerizing display as countless hummingbirds dart and hover, offering incredible close-up photography opportunities. Beyond the hummers, we'll search for other lowland specialties such as the well-camouflaged Common Potoo, the majestic King Vulture, and the striking Scarlet-hooded Barbet, alongside a diversity of toucans and tanagers.

Day 6: Pona Lodge – Second Hummingbird Garden & Lowland Specialties

Our final full day near Pona Lodge takes us to a second, distinct Hummingbird Garden, promising even more avian delights. This location is renowned for a spectacular variety of hummingbirds, including the exquisite Buff-tailed Sicklebill and the delicate Rufous-crested Coquette. We'll also seek out colorful honeycreepers like the Purple, Green, and Golden-collared species, plus a stunning diversity of seven different tanager species.
